United Hunters of Florida
History of the United Hunters of Florida (UHF) Inc.
United Hunters of Florida is a non-profit organization that was conceived in March, 2002. Our current and future goals are:
- To promote our hunting heritage through our youth.
- To bridge the gap between hunters and non-hunters through education, respect and professionalism.
- To strengthen our relationships between Florida hunters, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Water Management Districts, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, private land owners and other hunting related agencies and organizations.
- To promote safe and ethical hunting practices.
- To promote conservation of our natural resources.
- To give Florida hunters a unified voice at state and local government agency meetings and workshops, pertaining to land purchase, use, opportunity and quality of game animals and all issues that effect hunters in the state of Florida.
Jim Casselman (formally of the Florida Hunters Coalition) began organizing UHF at a hog hunt put on by a local hog hunting ranch. Those that were present saw the need to continue where the FHC left off; which was to help unite Florida hunters. Months of e-mails and phone calls took place to put UHF together and put in place a direction and plan!
In the future, our goals are to unite all Florida hunters, no matter what their unique hunting method - as long as it is lawfully done in the state of Florida. We will continuously strive to unite and work with other organizations that will advance our goals as outlined. We will work to better our relationship with government entities and never conduct ourselves in an unprofessional manner in achieving our goals for our members.
